    1. ANIMAL HEALTH OFFICER I J.G CPSB 09 ‘K’

        Positions: - 6

  Terms of Service: - Permanent and Pensionable 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Overseeing construction and maintenance of farm structures; 

2. Giving advice on dip designing, siting and appraising construction;

3. Training and advising on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting;

4. Carrying out vaccination, closed castration, dehorning, animal identification, deworming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming;

5. Carrying out simple treatment of animals; participating in disease search, collecting and collating data and writing technical reports; keeping records on animal breeding, animal health, milk production, dipping data, slaughter house daily kill, meat condemnation and movement permits;

6. Maintaining dairy units; participating in animal health field demonstrations and agricultural shows;

7. Undertaking equipment sterilization, collection, packaging and dispatch of samples;

8. Inspecting livestock, stock routes;

9. Issuing of livestock movement permits;

10. Undertaking artificial insemination, meat inspection and grading; and

11. Enforcing slaughterhouse hygiene, meat transport regulations and inspection of retail outlets of foods of animal origin.

     2. LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION OFFICER I J.G CPSB 09 ‘K’

        Positions: - 4

  Terms of Service: - Permanent and Pensionable 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Preparing livestock technical information;

2. Providing technical advice in livestock production, marketing and apiculture;

3. Promoting economic livestock farming, promoting economic livestock farming;

4. Participate in organizing extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits;

5. Participating in collaborative research activities; disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis, on-farm feed formulation;

6. Implementing livestock production programs / projects in such areas as dairy cattle farming, beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits, camels, donkeys breeding, fodder production and conservation, value addition to livestock products, apiculture, emerging livestock and other interventions, and capturing, maintaining and storing livestock data.

Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Identification and documentation of opportunities for land development and soil and water conservation;

2. Carrying out reconnaissance surveys and farm mapping services for development of conservation structures water harvesting and cropping;

3. Designing water-harvesting structures and supervising the construction work;

4. Providing on-farm contractual design and survey services to clients;

5. Liaising with Sub-County Agribusiness Development Officers in farm planning;

3. Setting up of irrigation demonstration plots

4. Identifying potential irrigation schemes for development

6. Undertaking feasibility studies and preliminary investigations

7. Training farmers on irrigation development technologies and environmental management

8. Designing and supervising construction of irrigation infrastructure

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Day to day running of the workshop

2. Management of machinery, transport and equipment repair

3. Management of workshop safety, cleanliness

4. Safe custody of all spares and other resources in the workshop

5. Supervision and guidance on repairs servicing and maintenance to ensure quality work and timely completion of the same

6. Timely ordering of spare parts and materials

7.  Maintenance of records on acquisition, utilization and making weekly reports to the station manager

9. AGRICULTURE ENGINEER II -MECHANISATION EXTENSION (AMS) J.G CPSB 09 ‘K’ 

 Positions: - 1

 Terms of Service: - Permanent and Pensionable 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Providing an efficient and timely mechanization extension service;

2. Developing an appropriate technology curriculum for farmers and extension staff concerning machinery servicing, calibration, maintenance and application, land preparation techniques, crop harvesting and use of other appropriate tools and equipment;

3. Organization and implementation of mechanization extension programmes related to farm power, farm mechanization, mechanized soil and water conservation service and other related land development services;

4. Mobilizing and sensitizing stakeholders on the need for inventorying of all machines and equipment available for private contracting;

5. Organizing courses, field demonstrations on improved mechanization practices and technologies, advising farmers on most appropriate machinery and soil and water conservation structures;

6. Liaising with extension officers on organizing mechanization extension courses in the mandate area;

7. Promotion of exploitation of the existing potential for agricultural development in the catchment areas;

8. Conducting survey and maintaining up to date records of machinery and equipment inventories and applications in the catchment districts in liaison with relevant SCAO;

9. Participating in Ploughing contests;

1. Receiving and compiling fisheries related statistical data from field officers;

2. Analyzing fisheries data and preparing reports;

3. Assisting in monitoring, control and surveillance of the fisheries resources;

1. Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement regulations; 

2. Participating in the training of stakeholders in vector control programmes;

3. Treating sick animals;

4. Advising on good veterinary practices;

5. Collecting' data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets;

6. Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare; and

Duties and Responsibilities 

This is the entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: - carrying out practical demonstrations relating to livestock production; collecting and collating livestock data and information and for gross margins, market access and planning; accompanying extension teams during farm visits and farmer training; participating in field days and agricultural shows to disseminate livestock production technologies and information; participating in collaborative research activities; collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis and advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment.

This is the entry and training grade for Diploma holders. An officer at this level will assist senior officers in the provision of agricultural extension services. Specific duties and responsibilities will involve mobilizing, training and advising farmers on matters relating to agricultural extension services in a working unit

Duties and Responsibilities

This entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced Veterinary officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: - receiving, recording, packaging, dispatching, analyzing and preserving test samples; performing crop, vaccine, feed animal products and by products quality assurance tests; Field sampling of suspected animals’ samples and Laboratory examination; standardizing laboratory procedures and reagents; writing laboratory reports; maintaining biological cultures; preparing media; caring for laboratory animals; undertaking disease surveillance activities. Evaluating specimens received by laboratory and organize workflow to; provide optimum efficiency of testing and turnaround times of results; Perform quality control, validation, and other quality activities to verify performance of assays; Maintain equipment by performing assigned maintenance activities and troubleshoot unexpected problems for the equipment;

This entry and training grade for this cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a more experienced Agricultural officer. Duties and responsibilities will entail: General maintenance of laboratory facility and equipment; Carrying out inventory of laboratory equipment and chemicals; Receiving and recording samples into the data base; Profiling of client details; Laboratory book keeping and Stock Control; Preparation of reagents; Collecting and analyzing agricultural samples; Installation of lab instruments

1. Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized training institution

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

All applicants are expected to present the following additional documents during interviews for purpose of complying with the provision of Chapter Six of the Constitution

 

1. Tax compliance certificates

2. Clearance from HELB where necessary

3. Clearance from the Ethics and anti- corruption commission

4. Clearance from the CRB.

5. Certificate of Good Conduct from the police

 

 

  PLEASE NOTE

2.  Courier and Hand delivered applications should be dropped at the Board’s office at Ardhi House 1st floor, Bondo.
