 Duties and Responsibilities

1. Undertaking disease control activities such as disease search, vaccination and enforcement of livestock movement

2. Participating in training of stakeholders in vector control programmes

3. Treating sick animals, advising on good veterinary practices

4. Collecting data and preparing reports on animal health, products and markets

5. Providing reports on animal health, products and markets

6. Providing advice on animal breeding and welfare

7. Undertaking post mortem examination and other diagnostic tests.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this post, a candidate must have a:-

1. Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Degree or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.

2. Registration by the Kenya Veterinary Board or its equivalent and relevant professional body

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Coordination of Agribusiness and Market development

2. Coordination agricultural business planning and entrepreneurship  development

3. Formulate and advise on strategies for value addition

4. Develop the capacity of farmers associations to identify sustainable agro based economic opportunities

5. Coordinate documentation and dissemination of information on agricultural inputs

6. Collect, analyze and disseminate market information

7. Promote development of commodity value chains

8. Develop business plans and models in agro – industry and value chain addition enterprise

9.  Collaborate with other stakeholders in development of farmer friendly credit products

10. Promote use appropriate quality inputs and collaborate with regulatory institutions involved in farm input quality control.

11.  Follow up and backstopping on agribusiness related activities

12. Preparation and implementation of work plans and budgets related o agribusiness

13. Coordinate the organization of field days , exhibition, shows and trade fairs

14. Prepare periodic reports in agribusiness

Requirements for Appointment    

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade C plain and above, KCE Division III or its equivalent from a recognized institution

2. Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields; - Agribusiness, Agriculture, Agricultural economics, Agricultural extension, Agricultural Education or any other relevant and equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.

3. Certificate in computer applications.

4. Meet requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Identification and documentation of opportunities for land development and soil and water conservation.

2. Carrying out reconnaissance surveys and farm mapping services for development of conservation structures for water harvesting and cropping

3. Designing water harvesting structures and supervising the construction work

4. Providing on farm contractual design and survey services to clients

5. Liaising with sub county  Agribusiness Development Officers in farm planning

6. Generating and review land use maps on land use potential

7. Preparation of work plans and budgets and

8. Compilation of periodic reports

9. Any other duties assigned by the Station Manager 

 

 

Requirements for Appointment

  For appointment to this grade, a candidate : - 

1. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in a field of Agricultural Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification

2. Must be registered as a graduate Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)

3. Must be in possession of current certificate of good standing from Engineers Board of Kenya

4. Must have certification in CAD applications.

5. Certificate in computer applications.

6. Meet requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Collating and compiling data for irrigation planning

2. Organizing farmers meetings for irrigation participatory development

3. Setting up of irrigation demonstration plots

4. Implementing irrigation action plans

1. Day to day running of the workshop

2. Management of machinery, transport and equipment repair

3. Management of workshop safety, cleanliness

4. Safe custody of all spares and other resources in the workshop

5. Supervision and guidance on repairs servicing and maintenance to ensure quality work and timely completion of the same

6. Timely ordering of spare parts and materials

7.  Maintenance of records on acquisition, utilization and making weekly reports to the station manager

8. Participating in field days, open days, exhibition and shows

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Receiving and analysing fisheries, aquaculture and blue economy related statistical data from the institutions, and preparing reports;

2. Participating in fisheries policy research and development, and monitoring of its implementation;

3. Participating in the preparation and monitoring of implementation of the fisheries management plans and measures;

4. Implementation of international standards/protocols, conventions and treaties, and development of the Blue Economy Master Plan.

   7. REF: SCPSB/56/02/2021 AGRICULTURAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST J.G CPSB 09 ‘K’

 Positions: - 2

 Terms of Service: - Permanent and Pensionable 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:- 

1. Collecting, recording, packing, dispatching, analyzing and preserving samples;

2. Maintaining biological cultures;

3. Preparing media, stains and dyes;

4. Writing laboratory reports;

5. Performing vaccine, animal products and by products quality assurance tests;

6. Maintaining analytical data base, laboratory stores, records and equipment;

7. Calibrating laboratory equipment;

8. Caring for laboratory animals;

9. Standardizing laboratory procedures; and

10. Undertaking disease surveillance activities 

11. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

 

Requirements for Appointment

  For appointment to this post, a candidate must have:-

1. Have served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Laboratory Technologist III or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service or private sector;

2. Have Diploma in any of the following fields:- Applied Sciences (Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology), Food Science and Technology, Biotechnology from a recognized institution; and

3. Be registered with the relevant Professional Body

4. Knowledge in ICT will be an added advantage

5. Knowledge about the County Government of Siaya with focus on agriculture

   8. REF: SCPSB/57/02/2021 ASSISTANT LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION OFFICER III J.G CPSB 11 ‘H’ 

 Positions: - 6

 Terms of Service: - Permanent and Pensionable 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Carrying out practical demonstrations relating to livestock production;

2. Collecting and collating livestock data and information;

3. Accompanying extension teams during farm visits and farmer trainings;

4. Participating in field days and agricultural shows to disseminate livestock production technologies and information;

5. Collecting and collating livestock data and information for gross margins,

6. Market access and planning;

7. Participating in collaborative research activities;

8. Collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis; and

9. Advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment’s. 

10. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor

 

Requirements for Appointment

1. Diploma in any of the following fields: - Animal Production, Dairy Science and Technology, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Animal Health and Production, Farm Management, Apiculture or Range/Natural Resource Management from a recognised Training Institution; and

2. Certificate in computer applications.

3. Meet requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

 

    9. REF: SCPSB/58/02/2021 FISHERIES ASSISTANT III J.G CPSB 12 ‘G’

 Duties and Responsibilities

1. Collecting fisheries statistical data,

2. Maintaining fish farms and hatchery and

3. Assisting in ensuring hygiene at fish landing sites, markets and farms

2. Attended a two year (2) certificate in course in agriculture, Food Science, Horticulture, Agricultural economics, Farm Management, Natural Resource Management, Agri business, Agricultural Extension or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution.

4. Meet requirement of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

 

 

   11. REF: SCPSB/60/02/2021 ANIMAL HEALTH ASSISTANT III  J.G CPSB 12 ‘G’

        Positions: - 4

  Terms of Service: - Permanent and Pensionable 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

1. Simple treatment of animals

2. Participating in disease search and reporting

3. Demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting

4. Carrying out  vaccination

5. Deworming , Castration, Deabeaking,and hoof trimming 

6. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements for Appointment 

1. Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Mean grade C- or its equivalent

2. Attended a two year (2) certificate in course in animal health, animal health and production or its equivalent from a recognized institution,

3. Registered by Kenya Veterinary Board
